Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Allegations Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement Wednesday night confirming they are aware of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and were in communication with the league office.

The team omitted the name of Rice specifically in their statement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Claims Shared on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice directly, posted a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. She did say the person involved was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has two children with the football player, whom the team selected in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Reportedly Not on File

No police reports were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have taken place.

Player's Prior Off-Field Troubles

The receiver was absent for the initial part of this season due to an league-mandated ban for his involvement in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that left multiple people hurt. Rice was sentenced 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

Statistically, he finished the season with 53 catches for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City finished 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a decade.
