Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Nigeria Following Fatal Road Accident

The British boxer Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, Nigerian authorities announced on late Wednesday. The fighter was involved in a car accident near Lagos on December 29th, a horrific crash that claimed the lives of two of his valued colleagues.

Recovering from Minor Injuries

Joshua had been under observation while healing from his light wounds, representatives confirmed on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update online that Joshua was judged healthy enough to continue his recovery at home.

“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two deceased friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” the official remarked.

A Tribute to the Fallen

The victims of the crash were named as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. It was also noted that the champion was filled with sorrow and overcome with emotion over the passing of his two dear friends.”

His release from the hospital arrives after the boxing community offered its support for the champion in the wake of the devastating accident.
